Meet the Chefs – Charlotte Pike

Charlotte Pike

It’s always a delight to have Charlotte cooking for us in our Neff Cookery Theatre! Her enthusiasm for food and travel shines through and makes every evening most interesting and inspiring. For each new demonstration, Charlotte will have undoubtedly come across some amazing and authentic new recipes from her recent worldly travels, and is always keen to share her stories as to how and where she found them and to demonstrate how easy and delicious each one is.

Charlotte is a natural communicator, is very efficient and organised and professionally delivers the recipes at a rate and with detail that everyone can keep up with and understand. She welcomes questions readily and loves to impart her handy tips and tricks of the trade. Her demonstrations are very popular and sell out quite quickly!

Charlotte Pike is a graduate of the famous Ballymaloe Cookery School’s Certificate Course and is a food writer, cookery teacher and Chef. Charlotte is the Founder and Director of Field & Fork Cookery School, in Oxfordshire. For anyone who loves Charlotte’s food, she also runs a bespoke catering facility – Charlotte’s Kitchen Cooking & Catering – cooking & providing for weddings, funerals, parties and corporate events, right across the UK. Charlotte’s Kitchen offer a completely personal service, making delicious and beautiful food from scratch with care and skill, using excellent ingredients.

Charlotte has contributed to many cookery books and publications over the years; writing recipes & food styling articles for magazines & newspapers including The Telegraph, and also occasionally broadcasts on BBC Radio. Charlotte’s recipes are simple, delicious and really work. Always keen to share her knowledge, Charlotte’s writing aims to inform and clearly instruct. Charlotte’s fifth book, SMOKED, was published in May 2017. Her last book, FERMENTED, was published in Summer 2015 and was shortlisted for the André Simon Award in January 2016. We also have it in stock in our Cookshop! Her first three cookery books, The Hungry Student Cookbook series, were published simultaneously in August 2013 and won best series at the International Gourmand Awards in January 2014! An amazing achievement.

Despite constantly travelling the world, Charlotte still sees herself as a local girl and loves cooking locally where she can.

I love the Dorset countryside and after several years living in London, and around the world, including France, Spain, Ireland and Denmark, I have returned to Dorset, which is where I grew up. We are so fortunate to have some good food producers, farmers, fishermen and growers in our area, which gives us some exceptional produce to cook with and enjoy. It is such a pleasure for me to come and demonstrate some of my favourite recipes at Cook at Purewell, and to meet so many local food enthusiasts.”

Charlotte will be with us next on Wednesday 24th January, to talk about and demonstrate Greek food – Greek Island Flavours – 6-8pm and again on Monday 19th February for Moroccan Feasts 6-8pm. Don’t miss her – Book now!!
